Bible Sleep Music

A free Bible sleep app with no ads

The quiet room at /tonight/ is a free Bible sleep app by BibleDo that you open in your browser and can install to your phone’s home screen. It shows Scripture in a dark painted room, plays real recorded rain, a stream or silence, and has a sleep timer that only ever fades out. It works offline after the first visit. There is no account, no ads, no trial and nothing to buy. It does not read Scripture aloud yet.

What it does at night

The room is built as one slow descent, and every step is darker than the one before. Nothing brightens again unless you tap it. Here is the order you meet it in.

  1. The lamp. You arrive in a painted room with a lamp, a chair and a window. The lamp is the one thing to touch. Tap it to begin.
  2. The Word. One passage of Scripture fills the screen, large and quiet, from the World English Bible. Tonight it might be Psalm 4:8, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep. Read it once, slowly.
  3. Breath. A short guide for a few slow breaths. No counting score, no streak. When it ends, you no longer need to look at the screen.
  4. Drift. The sound you chose plays on: real rain on glass, a running stream, or nothing at all. The room keeps dimming while it plays.
  5. Near-black. The screen settles almost to darkness, and when the timer ends the sound fades away. You can leave the phone face down from the Breath stage on.

Open it on the verse you want

Every verse page on this site has a button that opens the room on its own passage. You can also open it directly with the passage in the address: Psalm 4:8 in the room, Psalm 23 in the room, or Proverbs 3:24 in the room.

How to install it on your phone

The room is a web app, so there is no app store download. Installing it puts an icon on your home screen and lets it open full screen, without the browser’s bars.

  • iPhone or iPad: open the room in Safari. Tap the Share button (on newer versions of iOS it can sit behind the three-dot menu), then tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  • Android: open the room in Chrome. Tap the three-dot menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen, and confirm.
  • Then open it once with a connection. After that first visit it works offline, so it still opens with the phone on airplane mode.

The sleep timer, and how sound ends

The timer has one rule: sound ends with a fade, never a jolt. There is no chime when it finishes, no next track starting by itself, and no ad cutting in louder. You choose how slowly the sound fades to silence, from one minute up to ten, in the room’s settings.

One honest note for iPhone. On some versions of iOS, audio in an installed web app can stop when the phone locks. If your rain cuts out early, leave the room open with the screen on: it dims itself to near-black, and you can turn your phone’s brightness all the way down as well.

Privacy

There is no account to make, so there is nothing to sign in to and no profile kept about you. Anything you write in the room stays on your own device and never leaves it. The room counts nothing at all, and it plays no ads, so nothing is selling your night to anyone.

If you want Scripture read aloud

Plainly: the room does not read the Bible aloud yet. The words are on screen to read before you put the phone down. When a spoken reading is added, it will be a human voice. The room never plays generated sound of any kind.

If you want to hear Scripture as you fall asleep, choose an app or recording that reads it aloud, and check three things before you settle on one: whether the reading is word for word and names its translation, whether ads or prompts can interrupt at night, and whether the sound fades at the end or stops sharply.

If sung Scripture suits you, BibleDo also makes Sleep Radio, which sings passages word for word over slow music. Its music is made with AI tools, so choose it with that in view. It is free, and it is the second door below. The Bible sleep music guide compares the two side by side.

What it is not

It is a quiet place to read Scripture and rest, not a treatment. No app, verse or sound cures sleeplessness. If you lie awake most nights for weeks, the guide to prayer and sleeplessness says when to see a doctor.
